Mangaluru: ‘An Aloysian, Always an Aloysian’- and I feel proud to be an Aloysian of this prestigious and renowned Institution- St Aloysius Institution, Mangaluru, which has made me what I am today, and I express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the Jesuit priests and teachers for giving the best education and the best training. Even though we didn’t had all the facilities during our school and college days then, but we enjoyed the campus atmosphere and the love shown towards us by the management. The present students of St Aloysius Gonzaga School should be happy and be grateful for all the new gadgets, new and high-tech facilities this state-of-the-art School has to offer them, and they should make avail of the opportunities that this prestigious school has to offer by the Jesuit priests.

The new St. Aloysius Gonzaga School is now a five-storeyed majestic building with 52 spacious classrooms and well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Math lab. It has two computer suites with 80 computers, a well-stocked spacious library, a spacious music, drama and theatre room, a conference hall, Audiovisual room, Parent-teacher interface room, infirmary, a multifaceted Gonzaga hall, facilities for smart classes with provision for Skype in the classroom. Apart from this, the school provides opportunities for extracurricular activities like swimming karate, roller skating, music, dance and even take part in skill-based events like olympiads beside the usual sports activities. Co-curricular activities include cubs and bulbuls, Scouts, Guides and Bunny movement. The school also conducts special classes for English communication and public speaking and graded examination for spoken English (GESE) by Trinity College London.

And this New School Building of St Aloysius Gonzaga CBSE School was blessed on 5 December 2018 by the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha and inaugurated by the Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit Province, Rev. Dr Jerome Stanislaus D’ Souza SJ. The programme included the unveiling of the plaque by Prof. Mathew Ninan, Principal, Little Rock Indian School, Bramahvar and an audio-visual presentation of the school journey since 2012. This was followed by the felicitation of Guests, including architect Lawrence Cutinho, contractor Richard Rodrigues, and site engineer Harish among others.

Speaking on the occasion the Bishop applauded the efforts of St Aloysius Institutions in the field of Education. He said ” There is no other institution in this educational Hub to match St Aloysius Institution. Everyone looks forward to get education at this prestigious institution, and all those who have passed out of this institution are serving in a good position in the nation and abroad. Students enroll at this institution not because of its concept, idea and extracurricular activities but because the institution is a role model for early and higher education. The vision of this CBSE school is to educate young minds and foster ethical, social and moral values through holistic learning, for them to bloom into responsible global citizens. Irrespective of caste or creed, St Aloysius Gonzaga school has accepted every child without any discrimination to meet the highest educational expectations of the parents in the City and beyond. May this institution reach greater heights in providing the best education to the children of this City, to become the future leaders of the country”.

Also speaking on the occasion, Dr Stanislaus D’Souza SJ – Provincial Karnataka Jesuit province said,” St Aloysius Institutions are always in the forefront in providing quality education and takes the lead to try new initiatives, while at the same time upholding its fine tradition of providing quality education. Situated in the heart of Mangaluru city, the school stands tall with its wonderful infrastructure and all modern amenities in the sprawling campus of St Aloysius college institutions.

My sincere compliments to everyone for making this building stand tall and provide all the facilities needed by the present generation to excel in their academics. This institution is indeed a home away from home for many of the students, and the staff are doing a yeomen job in taking care and training the students to become better citizens of the future. The school comprises of a very caring and committed staff and its goal is to help each student strive to reach his/her fullest potential. My best wishes to the principal and teachers for coming up with a nice and unique structure”.

The Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Rev. Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ welcomed the gathering and the Principal, Mrs Grace Noronha proposed the vote of thanks. Manager of the School, Rev. Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ, Former Rector and Director of AIMIT, Rev. Fr Denzil E. Lobo SJ, Former Headmaster St Aloysius High School Rev. Fr J.B Mendonca SJ, Secretary, Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society Rev. Fr Denzil W Lobo SJ were also present on the stage. Ms Jacintha D’Costa and Fr Amit SJ compered the programme.
