Madhwaraj has Lost his Mind, Playing Cheap Politics on Suvarna Tribhuja Tragedy – MLA Raghupathi Bhat
Udupi: Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat alleged that former minister Pramod Madhwaraj is playing cheap politics in the name of the missing seven fishermen. He was countering the statement made by Pramod that the Indian Naval ship was responsible for the Suvarna Tribhuja tragedy.
Speaking to media persons at Malpe, Raghupathi Bhat said, “There is no need to play politics now. The Chief Minister has stayed in the Kaup Resort for 6 days. If Pramod Madhwaraj has any concern for the fishermen’s families then he should take chief minister Kumaraswamy to their homes”.
Madhwaraj has claimed that the Navy is responsible for the death of seven fishermen which is condemnable. “The Navy is working for the security of the country, without any proof how can Pramod give such a statement?” Bhat questioned
Bhat further said, “The former minister has lost his mind. He should stop politicizing the issue. He should come out with proof that INS Kochi had ploughed into the fishing boat.”
Meanwhile, MLA Raghupathi Bhat sought compensation of Rs 6 lakh from the state government to the missing fishermen’s families.
“The Central government should pay Rs 2 lakh as compensation to the families of the fishermen who have lost their lives. The families of the missing fishermen are very poor,” he said.
Bhat also said that an appeal will also be made to extract the wreckage of the damaged boat. The bodies of the missing fishermen were not found as the wreckage had covered the upper layer beneath the net, he said.
Bhat said that he and the fishermen do not hold the Navy responsible for the tragedy. “Yet, we are highly suspicious that some collision might have taken place in the high seas”.
