Madhwarj’s Varahi Water Project to Udupi is a Major Blunder – Raghupathi Bhat

Udupi: Former MLA of Udupi Raghupathi Bhat alleged that the assured Varahi project is a major blunder. the project is not viable. Pramod Madhwaraj is playing Eyewash politics during the time of elections.

Speaking to the media persons at the Press Club on Saturday, the former MLA alleged that the chief minister is visiting the district on January 8 and is laying the foundation stone for various projects which are being designed to be solely conceptualized by Congress the government. The most disheartening fact is that the bureaucracy in the district is being controlled by the Congress government. Most of the projects are pending for technical bid, only after which financial bid is opened. The inaugural and foundation stone laying ceremonies are being carried out hastily, he accused.

The Varahi project is being designed at a cost of Rs 260 crore. The detailed project report is not made and the proposed project is a herculean task. The project comprises of the pipeline which passes through Haladi to Baje and the pathway is full of curves. The project would prove costly. A separate corridor should be marked and land acquisition should be done. The impossible task is being made to believe as viable to the public, he accused. He ridiculed that the Malpe third stage work which was completed in 2013, is being inaugurated in 2018 as a new project, which is hilarious. He added that the underground drainage system is incomplete. He said that although the CMC had not given the completion certificate, the chief minister in his previous visit inaugurated the government maternity and child welfare hospital.

Strongly condemning the district administration order for the officials to compulsorily participate in the chief minister’s programme, the former MLA said that the government machinery is under slavery.

BJP leaders Roshan Shetty, Prabhakar Poojary, Shreesha Nayak and others were present.

It’s a… Read more »
