Madikeri: The state government has appointed Suraiya Abrar as the chairperson of the Madikeri Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
Until now, Madikeri revenue subdivision assistant commissioner Abhiram G Sankar IAS held the interim charge, which was earlier held by deputy commissioner Anurag Tewary IAS.
Suraiya Abrar hails from Bengaluru and holds a BE degree in Architecture. After getting married to Abrar, the engineer son of Tahir, a senior Congress leader, she has adopted this hill-top town as her place of residence.
The residents hope to see a new chapter in town planning with an architect at the helm.
