Madikeri: Mutta, a worker in a coffee estate belonging to Bolloor Mohan in Hoskeri in Margod village in the taluk, had an apprehension that his wife Bhagi maintained an illicit relationship with the owner.
His suspicion grew stronger when he suddenly arrived at the farm-house of the owner last week and happened to find both of them together.
Out of rage, he is said to have picked up a scythe and hacked Mohan indiscriminately. Bhagi could not escape his wrath either.
Presuming that both of them had died, Mutta came home and told his relatives that he had killed them. Those who rushed to the house found Bhagi still alive and shifted her to district hospital.
Mohan reportedly died on the spot after the assault.
