Magic Show for Cleanliness – An Awareness Drive by Ramakrishna Mission
Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission, Mangalore has been carrying on Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan for the past two years. Through various modules, the ashram is trying to create awareness among the public about hygiene and cleanliness. In the third phase, about 60 different teams in Mangalore have joined hands with the ashram in this Swacchata Abhiyan. We have already successfully completed 260 drives over 23 weeks.
Along with wielding broom in cleaning the city, creating awareness programme reaching out to more and more people is the special objective of our Ashram. Hence, we have already successfully arranged seminars and workshops for college students, Swacch Manas Programmes, workshops for house-wives, door to door visit of houses creating awareness about segregation of waste and garbage, Swacch Bharath rally, programmes on Doordarshan and radio and print media etc.
Adding to this list is a new initiative of our Ashram, “Magic for Cleanliness”. The ashram is organising about 30 magic shows by Sri Kudroli Ganesh & party over the next 15 days in different parts of Mangalore and nearby. Entertainment coupled with educating the masses in cleanliness is the objective behind this initiative.
Utilising a bus chassis in the model of a tableau, arrangements for the sound system, platform, video shows and arrangements for display of magic shows are being made. Daily 2 shows in the evening, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm and 6:30 pm to 7.30 pm will be held in pre-designated different venues. Already different teams have been formed in 30 different locations for conducting this show as also for giving due publicity in their respective locality. Each team will be distributing handbills about the show to about 2000 people in the locality. This series of shows will conclude at the Ramakrishna Math, Mangaladevi on Sunday, 2nd April 2017.
This “Magic for cleanliness – Awareness Campaign” will be flagged off at Panambur beach on 19th March at 5:00 pm in the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji by Kavitha Sanil, Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation. Harish Baliga, DGM, MRPL and Yatish Baikampady of MRPL will be participating in this event as chief guests.

There is no amount of magic that can cure the poison of anti-hindu hatred and arrogance coming from certain quarters of our society. As I have been pointing out week after week, it’s unfortunate to see how minority communities have decided not to participate in this campaign purely based on religious reasons. This is exactly why we need to completely get rid of unholy alliance between communal ‘vote banks’ and pseudo-secular groups. As and when the minority vote banks become irrelevant, the attitude will also change in a positive direction.
Mangalore need magic to cleanse their communal mind set. As long as cow vigilantes, moral police have field day ‘smart city’ can only visible without dirty minds.
It is collective decision of the Mangaloreans who need to kick out the communal parties which ruled Mangalore since 1991 for 25 years.
A appreciate Ram Krishna mission cleanliness drive and also request to do some real magic to unite the religions for the betterment of the city welfare.
