Maisie Williams thanks mother for her success
Los Angeles, July 22 (IANS) “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams, who scored an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Arya Stark in the hit HBO series, says she is grateful to her mother for allowing her to follow her acting dreams.
“She gave me the gift and gave me her blessing to do what I want with my life. To be like, ‘Okay … you’re going to do this and we’re going to prove them all wrong’ rather than, you know, making me stay in school.
“And I’m still educated, I’ve still got everything I need in life, I thank her every single day,” people.com quoted Williams as saying.
The 19-year-old shared that she was chatting with her mother when she found out about the Emmy nominations.
“I found out in the best way. I was away from her last week, and I speak to her every day – so I FaceTimed her … and a little notification from Twitter came up – a tweet from ‘Game of Thrones’,” she said.
Since she was on FaceTime, the full notification didn’t pop up and Williams wasn’t sure what the congratulatory tweet was for.
“I didn’t want to say anything because mom was talking at the time, and I was kind of trying to speed up the conversation so I could click off and go look at what this tweet was,” Williams said.
When they read the news of Williams’s very first Emmy nomination together, the actress says she was “just silent for about 30 seconds” while her mother “just started screaming” with excitement.
“I was just so happy and couldn’t quite believe it really – I still can’t believe it. And it was amazing to share that moment with my mom. She was crying,” Williams added.
Talking about her mother, Williams said: “She’s so caring and so lovely, but knowing her history and her past – she hasn’t been dealt the best hand in life, and there’s been a lot of things that have gone very against her. She has survived many, many times… survived relationships, survived breast cancer and constantly is just trying to do more to help other people.”
Williams also reveals she plans to take her mother as her date to the award show in September.
The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 18, and “Game of Thrones” will return in 2017.
The red carpet and 68th Primetime Emmys award ceremony itself will telecast live on the Star English network’s channels.
My love life is non-existent: Charlotte Crosby
London, July 22 (IANS) TV personality Charlotte Crosby has squashed rumours that she is rekindling her romance with her on and off boyfriend and actor Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle, saying her love life is “non-existent right now”.
Crosby and Beadle recently got back in contact with each other but she says she is now not interested in giving him another chance to make amends, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“He messaged us to see how I was – but that was as far as the conversation went. It’s doesn’t make any difference to us,” Crosby told The Sun newspaper.
“We went through a lot and yeah I still stand where I was. My love life is non-existent right now,” she added.
