Major Mishap Averted at Pumpwell as LPG Tanker’s Brakes Fail
Mangaluru: A major tragedy was averted when a gas laden tanker lost control at the busy junction at Pumpwell here, on June 2.
The tanker was plying from Panambur on the National Highway towards Kerala. According to the police on duty at the spot, he had halted the vehicles moving from Bendurwell to allow vehicles coming from the other side to move. The gas laden tanker lost control, jumped a trench, crashed into the barricades and a pile of mud, coming to a halt on the side of the road near Pumpwell circle.
A person, who was sticking posters on the barricades, was injured. He has been admitted to the hospital. The front portion of the tanker was damaged, but luckily, there was no leakage of gas.
The fire brigade reached the spot. Traffic police and the firemen are trying to move the tanker to a safer place to facilitate smooth flow of traffic in the area.

Roads in Mangalore are narrow. Population is increasing by the day. Traffic is doubling everywhere.
