According to eyewitnesses, on December 15, the truck carrying about 20 tons of floor tiles was parked on the slope, near Essel Wilcon building, at Bendurwell. At around 1:00 pm, the driver of the truck removed the stone kept at the wheel to stop the truck from moving while it was parked. Immediately as the stone was removed, the truck moved backwards on the slope and halted after it crashed into the building. A motorbike parked near the building was crushed under the truck.

Speaking to mangalorean.com an eyewitness Mohammed said, Normally everyday people park the vehicles in the place. Fortunately, there were only two vehicles parked on that road of which the motorbike was crushed under the truck. Since the truck driver had cut the steering wheel to one side while parking the truck, the truck moved to one side without touching the car and crashed into the building. If the truck would have moved straight down it would have caused a lot of damage”.

The traffic police from Kadri station arrived at the spot. Two cranes were called to lift the truck. Unloading of the floor tiles is underway since it was not possible to pull the truck with its load.
