MAK Kuwait emerge Champions in Xavierian Boys, Goa festive tournament
Kuwait: MAK Kuwait emerged Champions of the first 7 a-side Open Football Tournament organized by Xavierian Boys, Madel, Margao-Goa and held at Bayan grounds.
MAK Kuwait beat Fatima Boys 3-2 in the tie-breaker; 24 exciting teams took part in the one-day tournament.
In the semi-finals, MAK Kuwait beat A. K F.C while Fatima Boys saw overcame a strong 3 Kings Nagoa-Verna.
MAK Kuwait comprised of Siva Parasad (goalkeeper), Shafeek , Mansoor, Sajesh, Rafek, Shamil, Raheem, Irshad, Jaris and Renju Shinu.
Runners-up Fatima Boys consisted of Agostinho Braganza, Xavier Costa, Darwin D’Cruz, Neves Periera, Paley Costa, Marcelino Costa, Slivester Costa, Anthony Miranda, Jacob Dias, S.Vecon , etc.
The matches were officiated by Ruzario Colaco, Edward Dias, Victor Andrade, Rafi , George , Sameer and Agnel D’cunha.
Apart from the trophies, the winners and runners-up were awarded cash prizes and glittering individual trophies.
Lawry PINTO was the chief guest at the event. Other special guests and dignitaries that attended included Dominic Pereira – President (KIFF), Austine Abreo – Vice President (KIFF), Mansour – Gen. Secretary – Kefak, Rizwan, Nazi Azavedo, Philip Vaz, Brian Dourado, Michael Pereira, Nousahd, Etc.
Lawry Pinto while congratulating the winners, praised Xavierian Boys for organizing a grand tournament.
The tournament was made all the more spectacular with the entry of Santa Claus who distributed sweets to kids and spectators all around the field. Christmas cake was also served to spectators.
In a noteworthy gesture during the prize distribution ceremony, Madel Boys honored Dominic Periera, Julio Cardoso, Gasper Crasto, Michael Pereira, Brian Dourado, James Rebello, and Joaquim Rodrigues, etc, for their contribution towards Indian football in Kuwait and for supporting the tournament.
The prizes were presented at the hands of Rafael Rodrigues – President of Xavierian Boys, Austin Abreo, Mansour, Rizwan Farooq, Suresh Kate, Phillip, Chari Datta, Manuel Rodrigues, Lourdina Rodrigues, etc.
In the vote of thanks proposed, Lourdina Rodrigues of Xavierian Boys thanked all the participating teams, officials, sponsors and everyone who rendered their help in making the tournament a success.
Gasper Crasto and Julio Cardoso compered the entire tournament.
