MakeAChange Invites Donors to Contribute to ‘Batte Bank’
Mangaluru: MakeAChange Foundation is a Non-Government Organisation working for Empowerment of the weaker sections of the Society, with a Bunch of dedicated and committed youth to create an environment where everyone is loved, valued and respected. MAC Foundation is a Brain Child of Suhail Kandak, a well-known business personality as well an inspiration to the youth of Dakshina Kannada, MAC is rooted in philanthropic values for the empowerment of the weaker sections of the society.
The season is changing and your clothes from last year may not fit. Even with all those designer pieces you still get the feeling of despair every time you open your closet, you can then imagine the plight of all the people who receive a minimum wage daily and cannot afford more than one item of clothing. If you notice clothes piling up in your family’s closets and you’re looking for a way to help the less fortunate, donating clothes could be a super-easy start.
Taking this as a Serious Concern MAC thought of coming up with an initiative, through which the underprivileged can enjoy one of the basic necessities of livelihood. Proposed ‘Batte Bank’ is a unit set up at various corners of Dakshina Kannada District, where people can donate clothes that will be distributed among the less fortunate people. Throughout the year, we collect all kinds of summer and winter clothes and we donate it to the underprivileged.
Interested people can either donate clothes by dropping it at different pickup points or they can Call/Whatsapp us on +91-8088855555 to get it collected. After the donation process, the clothes are inspected for wear, tear, or missing buttons, loose stitching, segregated according to size and gender, and then sent for dry-cleaning and ironing. If passed, the same clothes are washed and given in transparent plastic bags to the beneficiaries. The rest are sewn or fixed and then given away to the poor as and when the requirement arises and also on a monthly basis.
A small gesture of yours will be a boon for poverty stricken, deprived people to stay happy during the cruel summer / winter season. So, show your generosity, and help us to collect as many clothes to keep the deprived ones comfortable in harsh summers and winters.
Prior to this as a part of our Hunger-Free Mangalore Campaign MakeAChange Foundation is already engaged in collecting excess leftover foods from wedding ceremonies, parties, restaurants etc., and donating it to the poor and homeless. The campaign will be widely launched throughout Dakshina Kannada very soon.
