Malpe- Padukere bridge work to be completed soon – Pramod Madhwaraj

Udupi: “The much-awaited demand of the residents of Padukere village will now be soon realised. The proposed Malpe- Padukere bridge work will be completed soon”, said the district minister in-charge Pramod Madhwaraj.

Speaking to the media persons, after inspecting the construction work of Malpe-Padukere bridge on Thursday, December 8, Pramod said that the bridge work connecting Malpe-Padukere will be completed by January 2017. The bridge is being built at a cost of Rs 16.61 crore. The height of the bridge has been increased. The bridge measures 430 metres in length and 5.5 metres in width. The construction work is in progress and it will be completed in 45 days. Rupees one crore is being spent on the connecting road on both sides of the bridge. Rs 16.61 crore have been utilized under various departments, Rs 8 crore under Nagarothana project, Rs 5.5 crore under CMC Platinum Jubilee fund, Rs 2 Crore from the CMC fund, Rs 50 lakh from the special government grant and Rs 90 lakh from the platinum jubilee interest fund.

The government has given the approval to construct a Jetty near Padukere in NABARD at a cost of Rs 10 crore. A total of Rs 28 crore has been utilized for the Padukere area.

The third stage of the Malpe port has been completed. The slipway has been built at a cost of Rs 2.39 crore. The bearing capacity of the slipway is 60 tonnes and 13 boats can be parked for maintenance, repair, and renovation at one time, he said.

Meenakshi Madhava (president CMC), Sandhya Thilak Raj (vice president CMC), Narayan Kundar, Ramesh Kanchan, Chandrakanth, Ganesh Nergi, Sathis Ameen, Prashanth Poojary and others were present.
