Man along with Wife arrested for Killing Brother
Karkala: The Karkala police have arrested a couple in connection with the murder case of a 25-year-old youth at Kaje Kukkundur here on May 8.
The deceased has been identified as Ivan D’Souza (25), a resident of Kukkundur.
The arrested have been identified as Steevan D’Souza (32) and his wife Monika (26).
Ivan a drunkard and was fighting with his brother and sister-in-law every day for money. On May 7, when Steevan refused to give Ivan the money he demanded, Ivan fought with him. During the fight, in a fit of rage Steevan took a knife and stabbed Ivan in the stomach.
Ivan who was bleeding profusely was brought to the Karkala government hospital by Steevan and his wife. Ivan, without responding to the treatment breathed his last in the hospital. Getting suspicious of the condition in which Ivan was brought to the hospital, Doctors refused to hand over the body to Steevan and informed the police. Before bringing Ivan to the hospital both husband and wife had destroyed all the evidence of the fight between the brothers.
The Karkala police on getting information arrested Steevan on May 7, for questioning. During the course of the investigation, Steevan revealed the truth. On May 8 Monika was also arrested and produced before the court, where they were remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
Ivan was a painter by profession. Steevan was earlier working in Dubai, in 2016 he had resigned from his job and had settled in Karkala.
Ivan’s uncle Victor Lobo has filed a complaint in the Karkala Town police station.
