Man Dies After severing his genitals in in Barkur

Udupi: A 42-year-old man, identified as Santosh, succumbed to his injuries after accidentally severing his genitals in Kachoor, Barkur, on Sunday. The incident, which occurred while the deceased was reportedly intoxicated, has prompted a police investigation.

Santosh, a resident of Kachoor village, had reportedly been grappling with mental health challenges and struggled with alcohol dependency. His condition prevented him from maintaining employment, leading to him staying at home.

According to sources, family members discovered Santosh in a state of severe distress in the bathroom, suffering from significant blood loss stemming from a self-inflicted injury to his genitals. He was immediately transported to the government hospital in Brahmavar for emergency medical attention.

Despite the swift response, medical personnel at the Brahmavar hospital declared Santosh dead upon arrival.

The Brahmavar police station has registered a case and has launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
