Mangaluru: Sources reveal that police have traced a man named Shankar Prasad, a native of Kumble- Kasaragod who posted an insensitive comment on Face Book after school children lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Kundapur on June 21, 2016.
After the tragedy in Trasi, which claimed eight innocent lives in a horrific accident, Prasad took to Facebook and posted a insensitive comment saying, ‘Poyine Manta Porbulu Atthe, Nank Dane (All those who were dead and gone are Christians right, why do we have to worry). Outrage against the comment posted by him, many people from all quarters of life wanted that this person be arrested and punished.
After a complaint was registered by Ashwin J Pereira, a resident of Moodabidri to arrest the culprit, the police who got into action have finally traced the person. As per police reports, Shanker a rank holder in his academics will be arrested soon, who is currently pursuing M.Tech in Bengaluru. Fearing that he would be arrested, he has reportedly sought bail through a lawyer from Bengaluru.
Recalling the horrifying incident, eight school children were killed and at least 12 were injured after a private bus crashed into a Maruti Omni van at Kundapur on June 21, 2016.
He will be arrested??? Why ?? When did stupidity and insensitive behavior become a crime in India? Yes – this ‘rank holder’ is an embarrassment. Yes – his comments are deplorable. But he didn’t incite any violence or caused any damage to life or property. I am very concerned with the direction India is taking with our ‘banning’ obsession!! Our attempt to curb free speech in the name of religious sentiments is creating a very scary, unhealthy police state!! How is it different from Saudi Arabia, China or North Korea? I wish stenographers and champions of secular organizations ask these… Read more »
@R.Pai if one of the children was someone you knew closely you would not have said its undemocratic, Stupid and regressive
“If one of the children was someone you knew closely…” – Duplicate Pai
You got him by his cojones, mate. But.. hey.. does he have ANY? Just watch him try and wriggle outta it and make an ass of himself – ALL over again.
And, as our Rampa prophesized… my net is cut off coz I haven’t paid my net bills. It will be reconnected ONLY when my NEXT job will pay me my salary. Until then.. cheers.
“..blah blah is undemocratic, stupid and regressive” – Namma Yumreeki Rampe
Forget “opinions”, man! Lets talk about ACTIONS – like the US police are being v v ‘progressive’, I suppose.
@. . Joker Praveena Pinto – You have brought up an unrelated topic (US police) in response to my post on free sepeech. You are such a genius!!!LOL
@. . Duplicate – Too afraid to post using your name, uh? Oh well, what else can I expect from dishonest individuals? I’ve already expressed how I feel about this case. I don’t have different standards based on who the victims are. Unfortunately, you seem to be one of those despicable characters who will have different reactions based on victims and how closely you are related to them!
Banning or arresting people for their opinion is undemocratic, I do agree Mr. Pai but making religious comments and that too at a very sensitive issue when 8 innocent lives were lost is not pardonable. He needs to know his limits. He maybe a very intelligent and educated rank holder but his thinking is too cheap.
@Original R.Pai; We all know your standards; your comments shows what you are; sitting in the US and commenting is very easy.
