Mangaluru : A three-day workshop was conducted at St. Theresa’s School-Mangaluru for students by a team of trained facilitators from Susheg Lifeline- Sandra Suares, Diana Pinto, Mariam Shafeena, Olga Noronha and Enita Rodrigues under the leadership of Ms Ratna Pinto. Students from VII, VIII and IX standard were the target audience.
Every parent wants his/her child to be balanced, to be able to cope with the ups and downs of life, and to be a well-adjusted person in society. Emotions and feelings play a very important role in this process. Understanding and learning to express emotions in the right way is an important ingredient of mental well-being which can be nurtured. Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth in very destructive ways. But emotions when expressed appropriately can definitely help a person of any age group to live a more meaningful life!
Gauging from the energetic and expressive response of the students, it is clear that they have learnt how to handle feelings and emotions with confidence; to have a concern for the feelings of others ; and to clarify and communicate feelings which prevents them from bottling them up and experiencing depression. “It is better to learn how to manage those feelings and emotions and not let them manage you !!!”
A grateful parent said:”If this age group in all schools is the target audience for such an important facet of living, much will be achieved. It was a great effort to educate the real vulnerable group of our society. We appreciate the trouble taken for the cause.”
