Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd Hosts Successful Vendors’ Meet

Mangalore: A vendors’ meet organized by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) was held today at the TMA Pai Convention Centre, Mangalore. Over 300 vendors from across the country participated in this event, which was organized as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2024.

In his address, Shri M. Shyamprasad Kamath, Managing Director of MRPL, emphasized the critical role MRPL plays in meeting the nation’s energy needs. He highlighted that MRPL refines 10% of the total crude oil processed by Indian PSU refineries and supplies 60% of Karnataka’s energy demand in terms of petrol, diesel, and LPG. Shri Kamath underscored the invaluable role of vendors, whose timely and quality services are essential for MRPL’s capacity to fulfill the country’s energy requirements.

The event began with a welcome address by Shri Satish Satyanarayana, GM (Materials). Shri Prasanth Sankar Poduval, GGM – Materials, spoke on the importance of Independent External Monitors in ensuring transparency in MRPL’s procurement processes.

Shri Ganesh S. Bhat, CVO, elaborated on key aspects of the Integrity Pact. At the same time, Shri Nandakumar V. Pillai, Director of Refinery, discussed this year’s theme, drawing connections between integrity and its mentions in the ancient Upanishads.

A detailed presentation was given by Shri Jayank Verma, Assistant Manager (Materials), on MRPL’s tendering system, procurement initiatives, and the scope and opportunities for vendors to participate in MRPL tenders.

Additionally, Shri Devaraj, Joint Director – MSME, Mangalore, presented on MSME activities and various schemes available to MSME vendors. Madam Kokila A., Head of the National SC/ST Hub NSC, Bengaluru, provided insights on how SC/ST vendors can leverage the benefits designed for them to engage in business with MRPL.

Mr. Aditya Singh Chauhan, Director of GeM, New Delhi, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the GeM registration process and the various bidding methodologies, features, and functionalities available on the GeM platform.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Manjunath H.V., GM (Materials), and was compered by Ms. Noopur Kaushik Bhalla, Senior Manager (Materials).
