Mangaluru: Mangalore Toastmasters Club received multiple awards during the Toastmasters International District 92 Conference, Coronation 2015, held at Cochin in Kerala recently.
The club was awarded the Golden Gavel Plus, Spirit of 92 awards and also won the Second Best Newsletter in the district. The awards were received on behalf of the club by Club President Sachitha Nandagopal at a glittering ceremony by TM District 92 Governor T K Ramesh in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Marketing M N Pai and Governer Nominee Gowri Sheshadri. Anita Cordiero was awarded as Distinguished Division Governor while Area Governor Nivedita Mirajkar received the 20-20 Linkers Innovator Award. Both belong to the Mangalore Toastmasters Club.
Toastmasters International is an international movement dedicated to developing oratory and leadership skills among its members with over 14,350 clubs in 122 countries. District 92 comprises of clubs from Karnataka and Kerala.
Golden Gavel Plus award is conferred on clubs for their distinguished achievements in an array of avenue as specified by the guidelines of Toastmasters International, while spirit of 92 award was given to clubs fulfilling the list of activities to celebrate the creation of District 92 which was carved out of the larger area that comprised of Sri Lanka and South India, during the previous year. As many as 25 members of the club attended the conference in Cochin.
