Mangaluru: A 44-year-old man died in a road mishap near Kolya Sharada Sadan, Tokkottu here late night on July 5.
The deceased has been identified as Shivaprakash (44), a resident of Kolya.
According to sources, Shivaprakash was on his way home on his two wheeler, at Thokkottu near Kolya Sharada Sadan. When he was a few meters away from his home, a KSRTC bus plying from Mangaluru to Kerala knocked him down. Shivaprakash’s hand was stuck under the tyre with his Kinetic scooter under the bus.
Locals gathered at the spot and helped the police to move Shivaprakash from under the bus. It took more than 20 minutes to pull him out. As soon as Shivaprakash was moved out, SI Bharati rushed him in her vehicle to the hospital. But he breathed his last in the hospital.
The locals appreciated the work done by SI Bharati and for her initiative in shifting the victim to the hospital as soon as possible.
Shivaprakash was working in the Mangalore City Corporation as a bill collector in the Revenue Department.
A case has been registered in the Ullal Police Station.
