Mangaluru: March 8, being celebrated as International Women’s Day, 92.7 BIGFM honoured 7 achievers from Dakshina Kannada with ‘BIG Kannaditi’ Awards.
The achievers were selected based on detailed surveys undertaken by team BIG FM.
Achievers:
C S Radhika, an ambulance owner and driver from Kulai who struggled after her husband’s death to fulfill his dream of having his own ambulance. She worked hard and now owns ten ambulances.
Rathi Shetty, a nurse and social worker from Karkala. She dedicated her life to serve the society. She is a recipient of Florence Nightingale Award from the President Pranab Mukharji.
Sarojini Shetty from Mangalore. A senior actress who was selected for her contribution in Tulu drama and movies.
Bhuvaneshwari Hegde, a stand up comedian from Kadri, who is receiving the award for her contribution in Kannada comedy industry.
Shruthi Hegde from Kumtaru, Kasargod has been nominated for the award as she, being an Endosulfan victim, has secured first rank in PUC and is currently pursuing her medical education. Her dream is to serve Endosulfan victims.
Ajjamma from Udupi is nominated for her selfless service for the society as a hotel owner.
PSI Bharathi from Ullala Police Station is awarded for her strong service against crime and maintaining peace in society.
Mangalore South Constituency MLA J R Lobo conveyed the initiative of BIG FM to the Chief Minister of Karnataka and issued Appreciation Letters on behalf of the Karnataka Government.
Speaking on this occasion, Lobo said, “I congratulate the women achievers and I assure my support and the support of the government for any noble cause initiated by 92.7BIGFM.”
Kannada cine actress Manasa Joshi was also present and honoured the achievers.
A special programme on the achievers was aired throughout the week in BIG Coffee by RJ Roopesh from 8 am to 12.
RJ Errol, RJ Rakshita, RJ Roopesh , executive producer Shilpa Shetty, Station Head Anirudh and others were present on this occasion.
