Mangaluru: The RTO held a meeting with the auto rickshaw owners and drivers regarding the reduction of fare charges at the Regional Transport office here on January 28.
The district regional transport authority had reduced the minimum fare to Rs 20 from January 12 but the auto drivers / owners did not follow the changes in minimum fare and continued to charge the minimum fare of Rs 25.
On January 28, the RTO called a meeting of the auto owners and drivers to convince them to reduce the minimum charges to Rs 20, whereas the auto drivers /owners did not agree to it.
The district regional transport authority later warned the auto drivers / owners not to charge the passengers more than the RTO fixed fare. He also warned of strict action against anyone found charging more than the RTO stipulated fare.
The RTO has urged the passengers to complain if the minimum fare will be charged more than Rs 20.
