Mangaluru: ‘Alva’s Pragati-2015’, the annual Mass Placement drive organized by Alva’s Education Foundation, will be held on 20 and 21, June 2015 at the Vidyagiri campus, said that Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation Dr Mohan Alva in a press meet held at the Press Club, Urva here on June 6.
Addressing the mediapersons Dr Mohan Alva said that the AEF has been committed to the cause of creating employment opportunities for the rural youth that go unnoticed as they have limited access to employment markets. The sixth edition of Alva’s Pragati will see a participation of more than 250 companies.
Prominent companies that are participating include Oracle, EY, IBM, TCS, Amazon, Biocon, Adani group, Flipkart, TechMahindra, Godrej, Titan, ITC, Taj Group, ICICI Bank, Wipro, TVS, AllCargo, Standard Chartered Bank, Axis Bank, Kirloskar Electric, Himalaya, Idea, etc.
As of now, about 210 companies have confirmed their participation and the number are expected to go over 250 in the next few days.The main objective of conducting this placement drive is to create opportunities. Rural areas lack both opportunities and information about job avenues. This platform was primarily created for this purpose 6 years back.
Alva’s Pragati started with 38 companies participating in its first edition. Last year’s Alva’s Pragati witnessed the participation of 216 companies and over 18,000 job aspirants with more than 3,764 offers rolled out.
More representation of companies this year from sectors such as IT, ITeS, Manufacturing, Telecom, BFSI, Sales & Retail, Pharma, Hospitality, Healthcare.
More opportunities available for BSc candidates: There are wide opportunities for students with B.Sc qualification. Oracle, TCS, Biocon, Himalaya, Wipro would be specifically coming to recruit B.Sc candidates.
Extensive opportunity for graduates across streams: There are huge numbers of opportunities across sectors for graduates from various streams. Companies like BIAL, Telecom companies, banking companies like Standard Chartered, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank would be hiring graduates from all streams.
IT companies are participating: Premier IT companies like TCS, Oracle, EY, Amazon, Tech Mahindra, Flipkart etc., are participating.

A color coded card is given to each candidate that will help match the right candidate with the right profile and correspondingly the color (based on their requirements) is displayed next to the company name in all the displays.
Employability Enhancement Center (Udyoga Mahiti Kendra) – is a dedicated assessment and counseling centre staffed by HR executives, trainers and teachers. Candidates are guided and helped to face interviews with the right companies.
Clarity Wall -displays all the OPEN positions of participating companies with their descriptions.
Accommodation for outstation candidates: Accommodation will be provided to outstation candidates participating in this drive.
Bus facility for ITI candidates: Buses would be provided to ITI candidates from their respective institute to the venue on both the days. The institutes will have to provide us prior information on the number of students participating.
