Mangaluru and Ullal Constituencies to Hold Jatha from Thokkottu to Pumpwell – Lobo

Mangaluru: “The DK District Congress in association with Mangaluru South and Ullal Constituencies will hold a Jatha from Thokkottu to Pumpwell on January 28 at 9:00 am. From the past 10 years, the flyover work in Thokkottu and Pumpwell has not completed. The elected MP has utterly failed in his responsibilities. When the ruling party fails to carry out the development work, it is the duty of the opposition to highlight such issues. Through the Jatha we are bringing awareness and reminding the failures of the central government to the people of Mangaluru,” said the former MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency J R Lobo in a press meet held at the DCC office Mallikatta here on January 25.

Addressing the media persons J R Lobo said, “The media may ask why this issue is being raised when the elections are nearing? Yes, the elections are important since people decide to elect their representatives in the state and centre considering their merits. Our elected MP has not put any efforts to complete the flyover work in Thokkottu and Pumpwell which has caused many accidents and loss of life. Recently we had organized a three-day Padayatra demanding to complete the NH 75 work from B C Road. After that our MP woke up and submitted a memorandum to Minister Gadkari. I have learnt that yesterday, January 24 our MP had called a meeting with the consultants and officers of Navyug company along with some police officers and threatened them of consequences if the work was not completed on time. This is the first time any MP has called the police for such a meeting and used them to threaten the company officials.”

Lobo further said, “When the UPA government was in power, funds were sanctioned to widen the national highway from Talapady to Byndoor but after the NDA government led by PM Narendra Modi came to power they have given only false hopes. The BJP government did not release any funds to continue the work. MP Nalin Kumar once said that he would set the district on fire but he is unable to complete the highway work which has led to the delay in the completion of Thokkottu and Pumpwell flyovers. Now from the past 15 days, the work has been completely stopped in Pumpwell. We need to take all these issues to the people. Because of the delay in the completion of the Pumpwell flyover work many innocent people have lost their lives. Due to the negligence of the NDA government, the Navyug company has stopped the flyover work in Pumpwell and Thokkottu.”

Lobo also said, “On January 28, we request the people to join in large numbers to condemn the anti-people policy of the NDA government and MP Nalin Kumar and demand the government to complete the work on time.”
