Mangaluru: A youth has been assaulted at Nadu Padav Konaje here, on July 17.
The injured has been identified as Siraj (24), a resident of Nadu Padav Konaje, employed at the Mahindra Showroom in Mangaluru.
According to the police, at around 9:45 pm when Siraj was going home after finishing his work, two persons who came on a bike assaulted him and fled from the scene. Siraj fortunately escaped with minor injuries and has been admitted to the Yenepoya hospital.
Police Commissioner S Murugan visited the spot for further investigation. People gathered at the spot in large numbers and demanded justice because a similar incident in Konaje was reported three days ago and no arrests have been made so far. The people in the locality are afraid to walk on the road because of continuous assault on the youth. They also demanded the Police Commissioner to strengthen security in Ullal and Konaje because of repeated incidents of assault in these places.
A case has been registered in the Konaje Police station.
