Mangaluru: There is always something or there other happening at Forum Fiza Mall in the city in terms of music and this weekend too it was no different- Sunday, 19 July 2015, a evening after India’s music icon Kunal Ganjawala rocked the stage inside the mall on Saturday-following close on its heels, Aurko, India’s leading Hindi Folk Rock music band from Bengaluru took the stage a day after Eid-ul-Fitr, and enthralled the packed crowd that had thronged to see them perform live for the first time in Mangaluru.
Aurko performed as part of the Alive India in Concert which is India’s longest music festival. It brings together India’s music icons, upcoming singers, musicians, bands, music lovers in one platform for a whole new live experience. The objective of the organizers is to revive open air live music shows and unite various parts of India through music. The ‘Aurko’ live concert brought on stage both renowned musicians as well as budding talents.
Aurko, has been in Bangalore’s music scene for a while now having started at a time when they faced criticism for forming the band in an already crowded Bangalore. But, that did not dither the band and they achieved success nonetheless. They are a Hindi music band which has a dash of folk music too. They have had a lot of live performances and have wowed audiences in India and abroad too.
Aurko, India’s Leading Hindi Folk Rock Band, has broken all generation barriers owing to its Versatility, and has consistently created new paths, with its intense Cause-driven Initiatives. They have pioneered a whole new Movement around LIVE Music – “Alive India In Concert” India’s first Open Air Pure Music Destination, collaborating with India’s Leading Musicians.
Sunday’s performance was a mix of Indi-Rock Originals capturing the wildness and the energy of today’s youth, stitched with Unforgettable Classics “Reprised”, Indi-Pop chart-busters, as well as a dash of Indian Regional Folk-Rock. ‘Aurko’s rendition of music was a perfect blend of “Southern Spice” with “Eastern Greenery” “Northern Flavors” tossed with “Western Hot Chilly Pepper”- the band simply brought in different Cultural influences, to create absolute Power-packed live show on stage. Aurko’s Power Packed Set List kept the crowd engaged, and left them craving for more!
Even as some top bands take time off from making music, proving the adage right that bands that make music also drift apart because of musical differences. This is the story of every second music bands that have existed ever since bands started to exist. The biggest international giants of music have been unable to stick together to make music and dismantled themselves because of creative differences. While this is true everywhere else, our Indian bands tell a different story. And showing their solidarity for years are some of the oldest and the biggest names who have managed to go past all differences, through changing band members, and have still continued their musical journeys together. The guitars chugged, the synth whistled, the drums got rolling and the dholak rose to engulf the sounds of mall shopping crowd and Aurko band members got into their act- the band members comprised of Supratik Gosh- Lead vocals; Jeet- Lead Guitar/ 12 string guitar and backing vocals; Avik- Bass guitar and backing vocals; Chris Powell (former drummer of Euphoria band)- Drums and backing vocals; and Joy Keyboards and backing vocals. Unabashedly populist and passionately Desi, the band with their high voltage live and electrifying performance, adrenalin fuelled vocals, pulsating rhythm, refreshing melody enthralled and rocked the crowd, who called for encores when the band played their last number. The concert was professionally compered by Ujji from Bengaluru, who entertained the crowd with his superb punchlines.
Speaking to mangalorean.com, Mrs.Lalpi-manager of the Band said that the five musicians from different parts of India & their musician friends perhaps by a certain divine mechanism happen to meet each other in the beautiful city of Bengaluru, and together with their undying passion, love and dedication have been actively regenerating the ‘obsession to Indian Rock’. The five band members come from diverse backgrounds, music , advertisement, software, automobile, united by their undying passion music. Sharing one common goal, Live life beyond obvious. To touch a million hearts with their music. They believe in living all the 24 hours of the day. Swearing by their passion – Music.
