Mangaluru: The induction and orientation programme for fresh batch of students was conducted in Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT) at its campus on 3rd August, 2015.
About 250 students and their parents participated in the program. Prof. Mustafa, HOD-Computer Science, welcomed the gathering and gave a brief presentation of offerings at BIT.
Addressing the new students and their parents, the Chairman of Bearys Academy of Learning, Syed Mohamed Beary, said that each student must develop a quality of endurance and must be hard working. He advised the students to spend more time on their studies and not give importance to frivolous pursuits. He asked the students to sacrifice 4 years of a student life to enjoy the remaining part of their life or may have to suffer the remaining days if they think on enjoying these 4 years of student life.
In his address, Principal, Dr Rana Pratap Reddy expressed his concern towards the growth of this great country. When India got the freedom in year 1947, the leaders of that time had a big dream of making India as a great nation. But we did not succeed for various reasons. The future of this nation is shaped inside the classroom. So the students should make that dream come true. With the help of cumulative effort from students, staff and parents, we at BIT will make all our students good leaders of tomorrow with a lot of values and ethics. He promised of taking BIT to greater heights in the coming 2 years.
Dean of Architecture Nelson Pais briefed about how Architecture differs from Engineering.
Chief Guest Iqbal Yousuf – a Canadian based consultant briefed about structured learning in contrast with google learning. He urged the students to deliver the technology to the community with a lot of sustainability and least destruction to the environment.
Thereafter the session was thrown open to the audience. Feedback was collected from the parents and students about their expectations and hopes from the college. In reply Prof. R P Reddy spoke to the students and briefly outlined to them what was expected of them by way of their commitment to their academics and discipline. He dwelt upon the need for students to stay focused on their studies and make a bright future. He said that discipline and ‘being focused’ would ensure good success. The formal function ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Aziz Mustafa, Professor from the Department of Computer Science Engineering. Prof. Sheikh Moidin K M was the master of the ceremony. The forenoon session closed with the singing of the national anthem.
