“Relationships-of all kinds-are like sand held in your hand. Held loosely, with an open hand, the sand remains where it is.The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your fingers. You may hold onto some of it, but most will be spilled. A relationship is like that. Held loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person, it is likely to remain intact. But hold too tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost.” — Kaleel Jamison
Mangaluru: They say that the heart of life lies in the relationships we have with other people. And how you let these relationships flow and grow has huge impact on the happiness both in your life and in the lives of the people you care about. Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. No road is long with good company.
“True friendship and good relationship comes when the silence between two people is comfortable.”- and here is one example, where a Association of Civil Engineers have been with good relationship with a mega company- and to highlight the goodness of their true relationship, Association of Civil Contractors Engineers (ACCE)-Mangaluru Chapter joined with ACC Ltd (Formerly The Associated Cement Companies Limited-one of the largest producers of cement in India ) in hosting “Beyond These Walls-2015” -an evening of total family Get-Together and Entertainment at St Sebastian Golden Jubilee Hall during the weekend. It was indeed a glittering function where the crowd was predominately Civil Engineers accompanied by their spouses and kids, and a few friends and well-wishers.
The event comprised of spot games, fashion show contest for kids and adults, quiz time, Magic show, singing, dancing, Karaoke, fun-n-frolic etc- and ending with a fellowship/sumptuous dinner. The extravaganza evening began with a welcome dance by the dance group, “Aryans”, followed by invoking God’s blessings rendered by a professional lady crooner. The function was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by the Executive Board Members of ACC Ltd along with the Executive Board members of ACCE (I).
Speaking during the occasion, executive board members of ACC Ltd namely Sathish M Chandran, Rajiv Kumar and Sanjay Roy expressed their fullest joy in being associated with ACCE for the past so many years in their activities, and their relationship has been growing in good terms in the past and continues to grow in the future too. ACC Limited, the concrete cement company has pledged to connect engineers and other technology professionals with organizations/institutions to have various informative and creative programmes in the future, thereby bringing a positive impact on people around us. With innovative concrete solutions delivered by ACC, the people you can trust, both the ACCE and ACC are trying to build a better nation-and I can say, ” Yes, together they can !”. And this event “Beyond These Walls” highlighted the bond and friendship between these two organizations, where it was like a family reunion party, where everyone mingled with each other, shared some joy and fun- and it was all in good faith and good relationship.
There’s also a saying “Whenever you’re in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude.”-but at this function there showed no signs of attitude, instead everyone got along so well, there was laughter, fun and friendship in the air. As you think so shall you be! Since you cannot physically experience another person, you can only experience them in your mind. Your relationships are all in how you think about the other people of your life. The relationship and connectivity between ACCE and ACC Ltd has reached to greater heights so immensely, that they want to continue the same trend in future too. Friendship/Relationship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one”
We can improve our relationships with others by leaps and bounds if we become encourager’s instead of critics. Some of the biggest challenges in relationships come from the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something: they’re trying to find someone who’s going to make them feel good. In reality, the only way a relationship will last is if you see your relationship as a place that you go to give, and not a place that you go to take. Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.
During the occasion the”Outstanding Constructor Award” was presented to Er Anand Kumar SK from Puttur-the proprietor of Master Plannery-Puttur who was primarily responsible for evolving and introducing quite a few innovative techniques and products, to the building industry. His innovative mind has given birth to a “Woodless Construction Technology” by way of developing a material which has been named ‘Concood’. This unique technology has been developed to such an extent that one can hardly see any item of wood even inside a house, where one sees, in general, wooden furniture, shelves, cots etc-all these items are made with Concood, which is environment friendly technology. This technology has already save a few lakhs of trees, thereby contributing to the effort of the government to preserve our precious forests. Er Anand Kumar was felicitated along with his wife, and he appreciated the kind gesture showed on him by ACCE in presenting the prestigious award.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners in the Children and Adults fashion show. Er Vinayak Pai- the chairman of ACCE welcomed the august gathering, and Er Vijay Vishnu Mayya kept the ball rolling with his witty punchlines as the compere of the event. It was indeed a glittering function where everybody went home happy with fond memories. “Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”- to ACCE and ACC Ltd I say a job well done in preserving the good old relationship and continue it in the future years too. Long live the ACCE and ACC Ltd relationship for a betterment of the Civil Engineers and the community.
