Mangaluru: Bharat Seva Dal celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, the birthday of the “Father of the Nation” – Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, at the Gandhi park, near Town Hall here, on October 2.

Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim garlanded the statue of the Mahatma along with other dignitaries while the children were shouting slogans praising Gandhi. Urging the gathering to lead a life of peace and harmony, he said that we gather for peace on only one day, October 2. “We have to reflect on why this is so. We see violence, disharmony among people everyday. We need to maintain peace and harmony, not just today, but on every other day too,” he added.
