Mangaluru: The members of the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a day-long protest to demand the government to investigate all the 7 murder cases, in front of the Gandhi Statue, near Town hall here on November 7.
Addressing the protestors BJP leader Ravishankar Mijar said that from two and a half years, the Siddaramaiah led state government is ruling Karnataka. “Siddaramaiah gave many false promises and assurances to the people, spoke of this and that ‘bhagya’, but instead gave the people “Kattale bhagya”, “Shoshane bhagya”, “Kallara bhagya”, “Koleya bhagya”. Today, people are being robbed in their own houses in broad daylight. Seven murders happened in 25 days in the district, with two murders right in the jail. This shows the helplessness of the police and the jail staff. Law and order in the district has totally failed and the people responsible for this are the four elected representatives from this region – Ramanath Rai, Khader, Jain and Sorake. They should responsibly resign for their failure. CM Siddaramaiah is taking water from the Yettinahole that comes to our district and diverting it to Kolar. Anjaneya has been caught for corruption; he should immediately resign from his post. They also said that the renovation of the Town Hall would be complete by 14 November, but looking at its condition now, it will take another two months for the work to be complete.”
Addressing the protesters, district BJP president Pratap Simha Nayak said that under the MCC limts within a month, there have been 7 murders and many untoward incidents took place. “Crime has gone up. Divisive forces have gained courage to do as they wish. After Congress government came to power, people have lost trust in the police department, and law and order of the state has deteriorated. Prices of commodities has also risen. During BJP’s rule, many houses used to be built with the assistance of the government. But now, that number has greatly decreased due to high prices of the required materials and less assistance from the government.”
He further said that a social activist, Prashant Poojary, was killed in front of his father. “What would the father have been feeling when his son was dying in his hands? The Congress government is in a coma. It does not bother to think about the situation that the people have to face.”
Speaking on Siddaramaiah’s beef comment, he said, “You [Siddu] can eat whatever you want, we don’t care; it’s your “Fate”. But being the chief minister of the state, you are responsible for the development and well-being of all the people of the state and not just one community. Your comment has hurt the people of the Hindu community”.
With regard to the state government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanti, Nayak questioned why the celebration of the brutal and cruel Tipu was required, adding, “Now it is Tipu Jayanti, tomorrow it will not be surprising to hear that they want to celebrate Bin Laden Jayanti.”
Krishna J Palemar, Sudhir Shetty and other party workers were present.
