Mangaluru: The District Youth Congress in association with Manglore South Assembly Youth Congress staged a protest in front the Gandhi statue, Lalbagh here, on June 16.
Addressing the protesters President of District Youth Congress Mithun Rai said, “From the past 9 years Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri Swaraj is representing Lalit Modi. In the court documents, Bansuri’s name has been listed as one of the advocates appearing for Modi in the Delhi High court. Instead of keeping the promise of bringing back black money from foreign banks, the BJP government is protecting the Master of Black money. Sushma should resign from her post and PM Narendra Modi should accept her resignation”.
Addressing the protesters, MLA Moideen Bava said that the BJP came to power in the centre by fooling people that they would bring back black money from foreign banks and credit Rs 15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account. “But after coming to power, the BJP government lead by Modi has forgotten its promise. Modi has fooled the people of the country. During the election, the corporate world supported him financially for the campaign and now he is pleasing them by bringing the land ordinance bill which is in favour of the corporate world.”
He further said that the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj helped former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi in getting travel documents on “humanitarian grounds”. “Lalit Modi is a master of black money. Sushma should resign from her post and Narendra Modi should accept her resignation. If Sushma will not resign, the Youth congress will intensify its protest till she resigns from her post.”
Congress leader Sashidhar Hegde said that the true face of Modi has been exposed. “Instead of bringing back the black money from foreign banks, Modi is pleasing the corporate world by bringing the land ordinance bill. The price of petrol, diesel and building materials is increasing day-by-day and there is no control over the price hike. On the other hand, Sushma Swaraj is protecting black money master Lalit Modi on humanitarian grounds. This is a symbolical protest, in the coming days, we will intensify our protest until Modi accepts the resignation of Sushma Swaraj. If Modi has concern about the people of this country, let him accept the resignation from Sushma.”
Senior Congress Leader Suresh Ballal, Praveen Chandra Alva, President Mangalore South Assembly Youth Congress Merill Rego, Ashok D K, Arun Coelho, Naveen D’Souza and other youth leaders were also present.
