Mangaluru: The BJP Yuva Morcha along with the residents of Adyar staged a symbolic protest in front of the Pandeshwar police station demanding probe in the Akshatha death case here, on October 5.

The protesters met the police inspector of Pandeshwar police station Dinaker Shetty and said that an investigation should be done in Akshatha’s death case. “On the day of Raksha Bandan, we had submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner to investigate the death case of Akshatha. So far no action has been taken in this case. The boy Madan Bhandary is still missing. So far, police have been unable to find the boy and there has been no positive reply from the police. If there is no result within a month and justice is not done to Akshatha’s family, we will intensify our protest.”

The protesters also said that even after submitting the memorandum to the concerned authorities, no action has been taken. “We get only assurances but there is no action.”

Pandeshwar Police Inspector Dinaker replied to the protesters that the investigation is going on and the police are trying their best to trace the boy. “There may be some delay but the police will surely find out the cause of Akshatha’s death.” He also said that a protest is not the solution for any case. “We are trying our best to solve the case and give justice to the victims.”

BJP Leader Pradeep Kumar speaking to the mediapersons said, “Akshatha was studying second year B.com in Venkataramana Government First Grade College, Car Street. She was missing from September 21, 2013 and on September 24, the police found a body near Mulihithlu Ice plant. When the police called Akshatha’s parents, they identified the body. When Akshatha was missing her classmate Madan Bhandary was also missing and till date, there has been no news about the boy. Now, almost two years have passed without any positive results in the case. We want to know the reason for Akshatha’s death.”

He further said, “Today we have protested with the locals from Adyar. We have come here to the police station to protest.  The police officers have assured that the investigation is going on and action will be taken. We are giving them a time period of one month to find out the reason behind Akshatha’s death. If the police fail to solve the case, we will intensify our protest. We have also demanded that the case be handed over to the COD if the police cannot find out the reason behind Akshatha’s death.”

BJP Yuva Morcha Mangalore North Constituency President Varun Chowta speaking to Mangalorean.com said that the locals of Adyar and BJP Yuva Morcha have symbolically protested to find out the reason behind the mysterious death of Akshatha. “Two years ago, Akshatha died under mysterious circumstances,. Till today, we are unable to get an answer for the cause of her death. The boy who was with her should be found and arrested. He has been missing from the past two years, and had 13 mobile connections when he went missing. The police should intensify their search for the boy and find him. The case should be handed over to COD or to the Mangaluru rural police station. The police should find the boy within a month and find answers to the questions in Akshatha’s mysterious death.”

Pradeep Shetty Adyar, Prasanna Kumar, Suchan Adyar, Sudhakar Adyar, BJP Yuva Morcha district general Secretary Brijesh Chowta and others were also present.
