Mangaluru: Blessed Joseph Vaz who performed miracles on the hill of Mudipu, will be raised to the alters of Sainthood on January 14 by Pope Francis in Srilanka, said the Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius D’Souza in a press meet held at the Milagres church hall here on January 8.
Addressing the mediapersons Bishop said that a priest from coastal region is raised to the Altars of sainthood for the first time in the book of history. This occasion will be celebrated on the miracle hill of Mudipu. On January 14, with a solemn festal mass celebrated at 10.30 am. On January 15, Msgr Dennis Moras Prabhu will celebrate the solemn festal mass at 10.30 am and on January 16 Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras will celebrate the mass at 10.30 a.m.
On January 9 the statue of Blessed Joseph Vaz will be brought to the shrine in a procession from Panir to Mudipu in a decorated vehicle. Votive offering procession on January 11, at 3.30 p. from Mudipu Church to Blessed Joseph Vaz Shrine at Miracle Hill.
During the year on every Friday adoration, confession and novena prayers will be held from 10 am to 12.30 p.m followed by lunch for all the pilgrims.
Parish Priest of Milagres Church Fr Valerian, PRO of Mangaluru diocese Fr William Menezes and others were also present.
