Mangaluru: Blood Donation Marks Railyatri Upbhokta Pakhwada

Mangaluru: As part of the Indian Railways Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight from 26th May to 9th June, the Southern Railways Division in association with Nitte University and Wenlock Hospital organised a blood donation camp at the Health Unit premises of Central Railway Station here on June 8.

The programme was inaugurated by the Palghat Divisional Railway Manager Anand Prakash by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries. Blood Bank Officer of Wenlock Hospital, Dr Sharath briefed the gathering about the importance of donating one’s blood.

The blood donation camp is aimed at spreading awareness among railway employees about its importance and benefits. Around 50 railway employees are expected to take part in the donation.

Coordinator of the programme and Homeguard Commandant Dr Murali compered the programme. Southern Railways Additional Divisional Engineer Ezhilian, Additional Divisional Mechanical engineer Subramanyan, Area Manager Bhupathi Raja and Divisional Security Commander Ramadas were present.

The Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight or ‘Railyatri/Upbhokta Pakhwada’ programme is primarily directed towards passenger amenities/customer facilitation, awareness about various achievements of Indian Railways during the preceding year and highlights of the Railway Budget 2015-16 by organising road shows, interaction with the public, intensive drives on passenger related amenities, coordination with state government authorities to be the highlights of the Pakhwada.
