Mangaluru: Dr Arthur C Pinto of Fairfield, Connecticut, C T passed away February 16, 2016. His family was at his side, he fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dr Arthur was 62-year-old, born on October 2, 1953 in Mangalore and was the youngest of five children born to the late Ralph Pinto and Judith nee’ Lobo, he was a bachelor. He attended St Johns National Academy of Sciences in Bangalore, completed his training at Bridgeport Hospital, Vanderbilt University and Kings College in London, and has worked at Bridgeport and St. Vincent’s Hospitals for over 32 years.
He was Chief of Urology at Bridgeport Hospital. Arthur devoted his life to caring for others and as a skilled surgeon and dedicated clinician he was often his patients’ greatest advocate. An esteemed colleague and loyal friend. He always had a ready smile, was warm, charismatic and devoted to his family, his mother was all to him. He was a true gentleman and was esteemed by those that knew him and will be greatly missed.
Arthur in his youth was a ranked tennis player. He was an avid golfer, loved skiing, and collected art and antiques. He cherished his family and is survived by brothers Patrick Pinto (Veronica), Dr. Edward Pinto (Dr. Marguerite), sisters Rita Gonsalves, Daphne Fickes (Dr Michael) and Thelma Pinto. Nieces and nephews: Margaret Mitchell (Ian), Mario Pinto (Judith), Roy Pinto, Dr. Ralph Pinto (Bernadette), Claude Pinto (Regina), Dr. Nirmala Gonsalves (Dr. Steven), Dr. Christina Pinto (Ira), Dr. Michelle Pinto Kittleson (Kurt), Lisa Pinto, Dr. Michael Fickes, Sarah Fickes and many grand nieces/nephews.
A Mass and Christian Burial – A Celebration of Life will be held on February 20, 2016, at 10:00 am, at St. Pius Church. A private interment ceremony will follow. May his soul rest in peace.
