Mangaluru: The car festival will be coming to an end with the ‘Okuli’ at Carstreet here, on February 15.
The newly wedded couple Lord Venkateshwara and Goddess Padmavathi will be taken in 5 different routes in the ‘Pallaki’.
Thousands of GSBs joined by non-GSB friends were found swarming the Car Street and the surroundings, dancing on the streets as colored water was sprayed on them. Sweets and panakam was distributed to the devotees. The young and the old, locals and some foreigners danced to the beating of drums.
Water was brought in tankers, children, youth and the aged all enjoyed the water spray and danced to the tune of DJ music. Little children were seen enjoying the colour water and dancing while spraying water on each other. The Young danced to the loud music pumped in through high wattage systems as Lord Venkatramana and Goddess Padmavathi were on the first journey of their wedded life.
At around 1:15 p.m the newly wedded couple Lord Venkateshwara and Goddess Padmavathi will be taken in a procession inside the temple and then the devotees will carry the Palanquin of Lord Venkateshwara and Goddess Padmavathi outside in a procession.
Devotees will carry the decorated Palanquin of Lord Venkateshwara and Goddess Padmavathi in all the five streets and finally the procession will reach the Srinivas Pathshala compound, where the deities will be bathed in the holy tank. The devotees also will take a dip in the holy tank. In the night the entire programme will end and the flag will be lowered to mark the completion of the festival.
