Mangaluru: Kishore Bhandary, a relative of Sumit Alva held a press meet regarding a false case lodged against Sumit by Mohan Shetty at Hotel Woodlands here, on January 11.
Speaking to the mediapersons, Kishore said, “Mohan Shetty alias Monappa Shetty was a contractor and had taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh in return for a cheque of Rs 10 lakh as surety. He had also given an overdraft of Rs 3 lakh from BC Road branch of the VittalRural Development Bank, to Sumit Alva.”
“Now that Mohan is not in a position to repay the loan, he has pointed false allegations against Sumit,” Kishore said. Mohan has lodged an attempt to murder and robbery case against Sumit.
Kishore said that Mohan was a dishonest person and gave several instances to prove his point. “Mohan had undertaken a construction project from a local college and has now cheated the administration by not completing it,” he added.
Kishore alleged that Mohan had cheated several others. “He has cheated, Ramanna Shetty from BC Road, Late. Pushparaj Shetty from Talapady and Badaje PushparajShetty too. He has cheated the owner of Fortune View without completing the construction of his flat in Mafatlal Group’s plot,” he said.
Kishore further said that Mohan had given Rajesh Prabhu a loan of Rs 1 lakh at 10% interest rate and was now torturing him for a repayment of the loan. “Mohan does not complete any construction projects and if he does then, after receiving the full payment he approaches the owner after six months demanding more money. If the owner doesn’t budge then he files a complaint against the owner,” said Kishore.
“To withdraw the attempt to murder and robbery case filed against Sumit, Mohan has demanded Rs 10 lakh from Sumit. Recently, Mohan held a press meet against Sumit. This has humiliated Sumit and so we have decided to file a defamation case for Rs 1crore against Mohan Shetty,” Kishore said.
Rajaram Shetty, Ramanna Shetty, BS Abubakkar Bollai, Shameer Shanthi Angadi and Wilson Bollai were also present.
