Mangaluru CCB Police Apprehend Individual for Trafficking MDMA in Autorickshaw

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have apprehended a 32-year-old individual identified as Mohammed Abdul Jaleel on charges of trafficking the banned substance Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) within the city. The arrest was made on Tuesday following a tip-off regarding the suspect’s alleged activities involving the distribution of MDMA to the public and student population using an autorickshaw.

Acting under the Bunder police station limits, the CCB police team, led by Inspector Rafeeq KM and under the guidance of CCB Unit ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, intercepted Jaleel and recovered 75 grams of MDMA from his possession. In addition to the narcotics, authorities seized a mobile phone, the autorickshaw utilized in the alleged distribution, and cash amounting to ₹3,75,000. The total estimated value of the seized assets is ₹5,00,000.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the MDMA was being transported into Mangaluru from Bengaluru via parcel. The investigation is ongoing to determine the source of the narcotics and identify any potential accomplices.

A formal case has been registered at the Bunder police station in connection with this incident. The successful operation was carried out by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Sudeep MV, ASI Ram Poojary, and other CCB staff members.
