Mangaluru: CCB Police Arrest Four Youth in Various Chain Snatching Cases

Mangaluru: The CCB police have arrested four youth in connection with various theft cases, in and around the city here, on October 20.

The arrested are Mohammed Rafiq (26), a resident of Bantwal; Afrim Shiyad (19), from Bantwal; Kaushik Nihal (19) from Farangipet and Ummar Farooq Irfan (19) from Surathkal.

It is learnt that all the four accused were involved in various chain snatching cases such as the chain snatching near Mahalingeshwar Temple on April 4, 2015; Shivabagh on May 2; Shivabagh on May 27; May 31 near Kadri Park; Mangaladevi temple on September 11; September 16 near RTO office; Hampankatta and Uchila Beach on September 21; near Emmekere on September 21 and near Permanki on October 10. The accused were also involved in theft cases in Innoli Shri Somanatheshwara Temple, Jain Basadi Venoor theft, Muniyala Temple Bantwal, Panjikal Temple Bantwal, Karangalpadi Temple, Kordabbu Temple Pumpwell, mobile shop theft and arecanut godown theft in Bantwal.

The operation was carried out under the able guidance of police commissioner S Murugan, DCP of Law and Order K M Shantharaju and DCP of Crime Dr Sanjeev M Patil. CCB police inspector Valentine D’Souza and PSI Shyam Sundar arrested the accused.
