Mangaluru Chalo Bike Rally: Police Hold Route March, Strict Action against those breaking the law

Mangaluru: As a precautionary measure and to ensure safety and security to the people of the city a “Police Route March”, was held starting from the Nehru Maidan here on September 6.

The route march which started from the Nehru Maidan passed through the Hampankatta Circle – Light House Hill Road – Jyothi – Balmatta – Karavali Circle – Kankanady – Falnir – and culminated at the Nehru Maidan.

The Police route march was carried out to ensure safety and security for the people in the city. The BJP Yuva Morcha has called for Mangaluru Chalo Bike Rally on September 7, in spite of the permission being denied for the same. The BJP Yuva Morcha and BJP leaders are adamant to hold the Bike rally in Mangaluru. The police commissionerate under the able leadership of Police commissioner T R Suresh and DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya have taken all the necessary measures in this regard.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Hanumantharaya said, “We have held a route march along with 135 members of the Rapid Action Force and 14 platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police, 10 Platoons of City Armed forces along with the local police officers. This is in preparation to deal with tomorrows Bike Rally called by the BJP Yuva Morcha for which permission has been denied considering the law and order situation in the district”.

Police commissioner Suresh speaking to mangalorean.com said, “Today we have held the route march to ensure safety and security for the people of Mangaluru. BJP Yuva Morcha has called for a bike rally for which permission has been denied in view of the law and order situation in the district. If anyone is found holding the bike rally they will be firmly dealt with. In view of the developments in the city, we have taken all the necessary measures to ensure safety and security for the people. Some organizers have also requested permission to hold a protest meet at the Nehru Maidan on September 7, which is under consideration. We will hold a meeting where all issues will be discussed and a decision will be taken”.

Police Commissioner Suresh further said, “We will take a call after the meeting. As a part of the bandobast, we held the route march consisting of RAF, 15 CR platoons and a number of officers from outside the district. Former Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar has also arrived in the city. Six SP’s and a number of police officers from outside district have also arrived. “So far we have not imposed any section, the decision will be taken after the meeting with the organizers and officers”.
