Mangaluru: With only a few hours to say Goodbye to 2015, the Christian fraternity in the city gathered in their respective churches on December 31, to give thanks to the Lord for all the Blessings.
At the Bishops house Kodialbail, the adoration of the Holy Sacrament was held at 6:30 pm followed by mass at 7:30pm.
The Thanksgiving mass was celebrated by the Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza along with other priests.
Bishop Dr Aloysius in his homily said that good luck and bad luck is in God’s hand, we do not know. Whatever happens in our life it is the will of God and we have to accept it. He further said that every year when new year starts we bring new calenders at home since the entire year events will be available on the calender. There is another calender that is our life and it is in God’s hand and he has written the date, time and year of good luck and bad luck in our life, but if we would have known about the good luck and bad luck in our life, we would have died of heart attack. We came to this world to see the white face and blue face of God. He is our heavenly father and he knows everything about us. We have to keep our faith in God and accept the good luck and bad luck in our life.
While concluding he said that we need to recall the past year for whatever we have done and what we have failed to do. If we have failed to perform our duty well God has given us one more year to repent and be a renewed person. January 1, 2016 is a year of peace and we are celebrating the year of peace. God has given us this beautiful nature and if we need peace we need to show interest in human beings and God. We need to accept God in our life. Take interest in God, accept fellow humans as our own. Show interest in others, love our neighbours and safeguard nature.
Thanksgiving masses were held in all the churches in the district.
At many hotels and Clubs people gathered with their family members and friends to enjoy the spectacular night with live music, Djs, dance and dine. celebrations were witnessed in many places in the city.
