Mangaluru: City All Set to Welcome ‘Hugging Amma’

Mangaluru: Mata Amritanandamayi Math held a press meet in connection with “Brahmasthana Mahothsava 2016” at the auditorium of Amrit Vidyalayam Boloor here, on January 6.

President of Mata Amritanandamayi Math Shruthi Hegde said, “Her holiness ‘Amma’ is scheduled to visit Mangaluru on January 9 and 10 at Amrita Vidyalayam Grounds. In this context, “Brahmasthana Mahothsava” and “Amritasangama 2016” are planned in the divine presence of the holy mother.”

Speaking to the mediapersons, Dr Jeevraj Sorake said, “The programme will begin on January 9 in presence of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi and Padma Vibhushan Rajarshi, Dr D Veerendra Heggade will be the Chief Guest. Other guests of honour will include Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, B Ramanth Rai, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, UT Khader, Minister for Urban Development, Vinay Kumar Sorake, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA JR Lobo, MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, MLC Ivan D’souza, Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred and Ajith Kumar Rai Malady.”

On this occasion, the Math had planned to hand over Aqua Guard water purifier systems worth Rs 9000 to ten local government schools. “The company has also promised to take care of maintenance so that the school doesn’t have to bear any extra costs later on,” Dr Sorake added.

“We will also issue various coloured bins to the schools to be used as dustbin for waste management. The colour code will help the in segregation of waste so that proper waste management is done,” Dr Sorake said. The Math aimed at covering all government schools in the region under these projects. “Scholarships will also be issued to the deserving candidates on this occasion,” he added.

Bhramachari Krishna said that in order to avoid confusion, the devotees seeking blessings from Amma would be issued colour coded cards at their arrival. The cards will later be replaced with tokens, using which a devotee could avail seek blessings from ‘Amma’.

‘Seeing nothing as apart from my own Self’ is Amma’s vision. This lies at the heart of all Amma’s institutions and charitable activities. Amma’s Love and empathy crosses all barriers of nationality, race, caste and religion, resulting in a host of charitable activities. Amma has over the years been preaching, practicing and showering bountiful affection, love, compassion and kindness to all mankind and that has justly earned her the epithet of ‘Universal AMMA’.
Thousands of devotees from in and around Mangaluru and the other centres in Karnataka and outside Karnataka are expected to come to Mangaluru on this occasion and ‘Amma’ is blessing all those who come to her with a divine hug.

A reception committee is formed for the welcome and other facilities at the programme. A traditional Tulunad Welcome is planned for Amma. Thousands of devotees including a number of foreign devotees are expected in Mangaluru and facilities are arranged for all those who come for a blessing by the divine mother.

A total of two sessions, one on each day, i.e., 9th and 10th January 2016 are planned. Amma, popularly known as “Hugging Saint” will hug each and every individual who visits her (Darshan). There will be public programs like Udayasthamana pooja, Lalitha sahasranama archane, Rahudosha and Shanidosha nivarana poojas. All the spiritual activities start early in the morning from 7 A.M. with meditation and other activities. These shall be followed by discourse, pooja bhajans and blessings by the Divine Mother and the programme shall continue till late at night till all the devotees present at the venue are blessed.

* Please arrive at the venue by 9.30 am, so that you can get a place to sit and get the token for the Darshan. People coming early are given time cards to identity them as early comers. The time cards shall be exchanged for darshan coupons after Amma reaches the venue.

* Darshan Tokens are required for each visitor including the smallest of children.

* The devotees are requested to be present at the venue at the time of making the “Sankalpa” by the Divine Mother so that the full benefit of the programme is availed by the devotees.

* The devotees are requested to maintain the peace and tranquility of the surroundings. Chanting of the names of God or Mantrochhara are suggested.
* Arrangements are made for all the devotees to have the Lunch (Anna Santarpana) at the venue.

Since the programme is fixed on Saturday and Sunday, thousands of devotees are expected from various places. The programme is open to all the devotees irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

Co-operation is sought from all for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene at the venue. For any assistance, the devotees/ visitors are requested to contact the volunteers. For the benefit of the visitors, canteen facilities and various stalls are organized at the venue.

Amrita Medical Clinic and free medical aid is available at the venue. For the visitors/ devotees travelling out of the venue late in the evening / night, bus facility is arranged to important junctions, bus stand, railway station etc. Drinking water is arranged for all the visitors
