Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during the press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, DB Mehta-President of Confederation of Real Estate and Developers Association of India (CREDAI)-Mangaluru said, ” One of our fellow developers, Suraj Parmar, of Cosmos Group, Thane, Maharashtra ended his life in his fight against a corrupt and inefficient system. He was one of the prominent names in the real estate in Thane region, Maharashtra and had delivered good number of landmark buildings across Mumbai and Thane region. The Group has maintained an impeccable record of timely possession, quality work and creating long lasting homes for the past 15 years and his company was a zero debt company”
” Later Suraj Parmar was the President of Thane chapter of Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI)-he committed suicide on October 7, 2015. The suicide note left by him is a painful indictment of our system and highlights especially the following- The endemic delays in getting approvals; Plans getting rejected with retrospective effect; Political Interference; Deliberate delays in implementing Government policy; Subjecting on-going projects to whimsical regulations; Retrospective application of new Rules and Regulations and Un-affordable demands for bribes from Officials and victimization for defying the bribes payment” added Mehta.
Mehta also stated that to build affordable houses, we need to have affordable borrowing and affordable approval process system in time and from one single window. It won’t be a surprise if we may hear more frequent news as above if the current system continued..! He said that
He said that CREDAI- Mangaluru and and its members make a fervent appeal to the District administration to develop an atmosphere of trust and working together in a spirit of partnership for development of the City to ensure that there is no such unfortunate event in Mangaluru. This is possible only if the ‘ease of doing business’ becomes a reality.
