Mangaluru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah’s day-long programmes concluded with the participation in Uroos at the Ullal Dargah here on April 24.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah arrived at the Mangaluru international airport at 12:40 pm, from there he proceded to the St Joseph’s Shrine, Mudipu where he met the Christian leaders, listened to their demands and assured help. His next visit was to a school after which CM Siddaramaiah laid the foundation stone for the District Congress Bhavan at Mallikatta at 5.40pm. Soon after the stage programme CM proceeded to the Ullal Dargah to take part in the Uroos.
After inaugurating the programme at Ullal Dargah, speaking on the occasion Siddaramaiah said that Ullal Dargah is a holy place where pilgrims come in large numbers to attend the Uroos without discrimination of caste, creed and religion. CM also said, “Being the chief minister of Karnataka state, I represent on behalf of the 6 crorre citizens of the state. I am here as a people’s representative and not as an individual belonging to any religion. Everyone has the right to practise his/her own religion and no one has the right to disturb peace in the society”.
He also said that the government has taken all the measures to curb anti social elements who are bent to spoil the peace in the society. From May 1, all the BPL card holders will get free rice, earlier we used to charge Rs 1 per KG, but it will free from May 1. The APL card holders will also get the benefits. CM also assured to release funds for the development of the Dargah.
Minister’s Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA Moideen Bava and others were also present.
