Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel held a press meet at the BJP office here, on November 4.

Addressing the mediapersons, Nalin said that after the Congress party coming power in the state, people have been facing various problems. “We had organised a Padayatra from Mangaluru to stop the Yettinahole river diversion project and as a result the government has temporarily stopped the work. A delegation of political leaders and activists will meet Uma Bharati in Delhi and request her to intervene and stop the project.”

He further said that in the last 25 days, the district has seen 7 persons being murdered which itself shows that the police department has totally failed to control such incidents. “The home ministry has also failed to provide protection to the people. The Police department should provide protection in the jails, but undertrails have been killed there. After the murder, it was the duty of the home minister to visit Mangaluru to assure safety to the people and also hold meetings with the leaders of DK.”

“In DK, most of the crimes take place due to easy availability of drugs. It is the duty of the police department to raid the shops supplying Ganja and take action. Now, ganja is available even near the premises of schools. Land mafia, sand mafia and drug mafia are carrying out their business without any fear; this shows the indirect support from the government to the mafias. Due to the sand mafia, poor people cannot afford to purchase sand because one load of sand costs Rs 25000. Sand is being transported to Bengaluru and sold for higher prices.”

He further said, “In the commissionerate limits, there were 7 murders. We will stage a day-long protest on November 9, to demand the government to investigate all the 7 murder cases.” He also said that being the chief minister of the state, Siddaramaiah’s comment on eating beef has hurt the sentiments of the people of Karnataka. “We do not know what kind of meat he eats. Let him eat anything but while commenting Siddaramaiah should not play with the sentiments of the people of Karnataka. His statement has pained the six crore people of Karnataka”.

He also said, “Being an MP, I have respect for chief minister Siddaramaiah, because for me, he is the CM. He is my CM and I respect him for his post. It is also his duty is to respect everyone equally. Siddaramaiah’s aim is to remain in power permanently by pleasing one community. If he cannot respect the people of the state, let him resign from the post and go home. CM Siddaramaiah’s insensitive statements are the cause for all troubles in the state.”

Addressing the mediapersons, Pratap Simha Nayak said that a ten-day programme would be organised to bring awareness among the people about the failure of the Congress government. “The ‘Jana Sankalpa’ yatra will be inaugurated on 13 November at Subramanya and conclude on 22 November at Kateel. The attitude of the Congress government is encouraging the sand, land and drug mafias to carry out their work without any fear. In 10 days of the yatra, there will be discussions in 35 centres,” he added.

ZP President Asha Thimmappa Gowda, Monappa Bhandary, Sanjeeva Matandoor, Umanath Kotian, Brijesh Chowta, Satish Kumpala and others were also present.
