Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel held a press meet at the BJP office here, on October 14.

Addressing the mediapersons, Nalin Kumar said that Hindu activist Prashant was murdered in broad day light and no action has been taken by the police department until now. “Because of the failure of the police department in taking action against the culprits, immoral policing is going on in the district.”

He further said that when people do not get justice and lose trust on the police department, they take law into their hands which leads to moral policing. After the Congress came to power, there have been continuous attacks on Hindu activists. “After three cases of attacks on Hindu activists in Moodbidri, I had advised the police officers to take strict action against the culprits and arrest them immediately. But the police have failed to take action against them. I personally feel that there is a strong political game behind these attacks.”

He also said that even when there are so many incidents in the district, not a single Congress leader or MLA has visited Prashant Poojary’s house nor have they condemned the brutal murder of Prashant. “We feel that the Congress government is behind all the attacks on Hindu activists. Every human has value for his/her life and it is the duty of the elected members to visit the families when they lose their loved ones in such attacks. Nalin demanded the government to sanction Rs 25 lakh as compensation to Prashant’s family as soon as possible. If the government will not pay the compensation, we will intensify our protest,” he said.

When asked about the moral policing taking place due to the failure of the police, Nalin said, “The word moral policing is used by the Police department and not me. There have been three attacks and no action has been taken against the culprits.” If the family will not get justice, where should they go to get justice?Who will give them justice? he questioned.

BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak, Monappa Bhandary, Sulochana G K Bhat, Yogish Bhat and others were also present.
