Mangaluru Cools Down under Steady Drizzle
MANGALURU: Steady drizzle from Monday morning brought down temperatures by a few degrees. The evening sky presented chance of good showers at night too.
With IMD predicting development of depression over Southeast Arabian Sea and widespread rainfall with gusty winds likely to continue, district minister U T Khader said the district administration was geared up to face monsoons. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has arrived and is stationed at NMPT.
The minister held discussions on monsoon challenges with officials rom the NDRF and Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Regarding, sea erosion, he asked officials of Ports and Fisheries department to be on alert and take precautionary measures.
He said that Home Guards should be provided with adequate facilities when used for rescue operations. Khader held discussions with Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil on help to be extended to rescuers and asked forest department details on measures to be taken to clear uprooted trees.
IMD stated that squally weather with wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph, is likely to prevail over southwest, southeast, and adjoining east central Arabian sea and Karnataka coasts.
