Mangaluru: The sports meet of D K District and Mangalore City Police concluded at the police parade grounds here on December 29.
District police divisions of City Armed Reserve/District Armed Reserve, Mangaluru Central, Mangaluru South, Mangaluru North, Bantwal-Belthangady, Puttur and Women Police took part in the two-day sports meet.
DCP Shantharaj welcomed the gathering.
The annual event hosted various athletic games for the men in Khaki and helped to build the spirit of sportsmanship. Many retired policemen had turned up along with their families to witness the ceremony and possibly relive their old memories.
IGP Amrit Paul and Manjula Bansal distributed the prizes to the winners. IGP Amrit Paul speaking on the occasion, “It is good to see that the family members of the police personnel have attended the sports meet and have taken active part in it”. Further he said that our police department is working very hard, and their work is very stressful. When we conduct such meets, it will help the police to forget about the stress. Systematically organizing sports meets will develop the competitiveness, discipline and sportsmen spirit.
Superintendent of Police Dr Sharanappa and other officers were also present.
