Mangaluru: DK Administration Celebrates ‘Shree Krishna Jayanti’

Mangaluru: The district administration in association with DK Zilla Panchayat and Kannada and Culture department, organised, “Shree Krishna Jayanti Celebration” at the NGO’s hall, Hamapnkatta here, on September 5.

Minister for Forests and Ecology and district minister in-charge, Ramanath Rai inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare, U T Khader wished the gathering on the occasion. Recalling his younger days, Khader said that everyone, irrespective of religion, would have a lot of fun during this festival. We were takin part in decorating the streets with buntings. In earlier days people were living in harmony and celebrating all the feasts with unity. Now the same zeal is not there among people, some anti social elements are trying to destroy peace in the society.

He also said that the festival should be celebrated with the same peace and harmony now and in the years to come. The anti-social elements in the society should be kept away and should not be encouraged and promoted. He concluded saying that the government would organise many such programmes that are part of the region’s culture and tradition.

Dr Sridhar gave a lengthy talk on Shree Krishna’s life and how Krishna was afflicted with the same day-to-day problems as any other human being did.

Thereafter, a cultural programme was held. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and others were also present.
