Update (10:45 pm): According to the final percentage of voting released by the Deputy commissioner, Sullia Taluk has recorded the highest polling of 74.40 percent followed by Bantwal Taluk 71.69, Puttur – 71.47, Beltangady – 66.73 and Mangaluru Taluk has recorded 65.54 percent.
There are 10,62,198 voters in the district of which 7,34.575 have cast their votes. At the end of the polling, 69.16 percent of the electorate have exercised their franchise in the district.
The election in DK district was very peaceful except some minor problems which were dealt with effectively by the DK police.
Update(3.00pm): Around 55.98 per cent of the electorate have exercised their franchise till around 3:00 PM in the district. There are 10,62,198 voters in the district of which 5,94,654 have cast their votes.
Update(1.00pm): Around 44.38 per cent of the electorate have exercised their franchise till around 1:00 PM in the district. There are 10,62,198 voters in the district of which 4,62,398 have cast their votes.
Update(11.00am): Around 29.09 per cent of the electorate have exercised their franchise till around 11:00 AM in the district. There are 10,62,198 voters in the district of which 3,09,000 have cast their votes.
Mangaluru: Voting Begins in 36 Zilla and 136 Taluk Panchyats across Dakshina District on February 20.
For the Taluk Panchayat elections from Mangaluru Taluk 115 candidates will contest for 39 seats, in Bantwal 92 candidates for 34 seats, in Beltangady 71 candidates for 26 seats, in Puttur 54 candidates for 24 seats and in Sullia 29 candidates for 13 seats. For the Zilla Panchayat elections 116 candidates will contest for 36 seats.
The ballot paper for the ZP elections will be ‘pink’ in colour and for TP elections will be ‘white’ and None Of The Above (NOTA) will also feature on the ballot paper.
The election will be held in 1166 polling booths.
