Mangaluru: SP Dr Sharanappa held a press meet at his office here, on October 6.
Addressing the mediapersons, Dr Sharanappa said that on October 5 at around 8:15 pm, M Subhashchandra Nayak was on his way home in his car after closing his shop. Near Vittal Government Hospital, five persons who came in a white colour Tata Sumo bearing registration number KA 19 AA 2448 waylaid Subhashchandra’s car.
Four people got down from the car and took Subhashchandra to task alleging him that he had hit their car. One of the four pulled out a weapon resembling a gun and pointed it at Subhashchandra’s chest. The other three looted the money from Subhashchandra’s car and fled from the spot.
Subhashchandra immediately informed the police. The Vittal police got into action and inform the district control room to monitor the vehicles and the accused. The Bantwal and Vittal police chased the car while also informing all the police stations. Based on the information, Ullal police sub inspector Bharati and Konaje police sub inspector Sudhakar stopped the Tata Sumo at Konaje and arrested all the five accused.
The arrested have been identified as Ramakrishna, Sujith Bhandary, Shreyas Jain,Manjunath Nageshappa and Amalraj. The police also recovered Rs 4,10,700 from their possession which was looted from Subhashchandra.
The operation was carried out under the direction of DK District SP Dr Sharanappa, SDIPS additional police SP Vincent Shantha Kumar, Bantwal Sub divisional ASP RahulKumar IPS, and the able guidance of Bantwal police circle inspector K U Belliyappa.DCIB P I Amanulla, Ullal PSI Bharati, Konaje PSI Sudhakar and their team, Vittal PSIPrakash Devadiga, ASI Koragappa, Balakrishna Gowda, Chinnappa Gowda,Chamayya, Praveen Rai, Sathish, Janardhan, Lokesh, Jagadish, Lakshman, BantwalTown PSI Nandakumar MM, DCIB ASI Sanjeev Purush, Palanivelu, Uday Rai, Taranath,Girish, Vasu Nayak, Naresh Kumar, Vijayeshwar, Yogesh, Vijaygowda, Mahesh andPraveen participated in the operation.
The police were able to arrest the culprits within an hour of the crime. The police commissioner appreciated the swift action by the police in arresting the culprits and announced reward for their efforts.
Shocking to see a jump in crimes of this nature even in remote areas like Vittla!! Kudos to Police dept for catching these rats within an hour. These incidents are a clear indication of unwarranted cultural shift towards easy money and crime. Sad but true.

Again, Joker Praveena should realize how his ‘knowledge’ on Doddanna is purely based on google search while my knowledge of mangaluru and surroundings are based on real experience!!
